Visit an organization

Look inside an organization you don’t belong to, as its people see it.

3 min · Self-hosted

A platform admin can visit any organization on the installation, to see why its runs fail or to help its people. It needs two-factor on your account: “Required to visit other organizations.”

Start a visit

  1. Find the organization in Platform: on Overview under Needs you, in Organizations, or on its record.
  2. Press Visit.

You should see “You’re inside Bakery Ltd, read only. It ends by itself at 15:40, or when you switch elsewhere.”

You can also start one from the switcher at the top of the sidebar, where other organizations’ workspaces have a Visit key. The switcher’s card says Visiting · read only and how long is left.

Make a change

The visit starts read only. The first change you make asks for your two-factor code, once for the whole visit; the switcher then says Visiting · can make changes.

A few things are never done in a visit, such as making a password reset link. Those are for the organization’s own admins.

End it

Switch to anywhere else, open Platform, or choose Leave visit to … in the menu at the bottom of the sidebar. A toast says “Left Bakery Ltd · looked only”, or how many changes were recorded.

After an hour
It ends by itself an hour after it started, at the time the start message names.
When you lose the right
Signing out, losing the platform role or turning two-factor off ends it at once.

What it records

The organization’s own audit log records the start, the end, the code you gave, and every change, under your own name. In Platform › Audit log, Admin visits lists each visit with why it began, how long it lasted and its changes; a row opens its timeline.
