monday.com

Create, find and update items and subitems on monday.com boards, post updates, and manage boards, groups, columns and their labels.

41 actions · 1 trigger · Sign in with monday.com

Connect monday.com

  1. In the sidebar, open Connections and press Add connection.
  2. Type monday.com and choose monday.com.
  3. Choose Sign in with monday.com.
  4. Press Sign in with monday.com at the bottom of the sheet, then choose your account in monday.com’s window and allow access.

Or choose Paste your personal API token, paste it, and press Test and save. It stays until someone deletes it.

Sign in with monday.com, or paste a personal API token (your avatar → Developers → My access tokens; admins also find it under Administration → Connections → API). The token acts as you and reaches the boards you can open.

What if it says “Sign-in isn’t set up here yet”?

Signing in with monday.com needs a monday.com app on this installation, and it has none yet. Until it is set up, Paste your personal API token works without it.

On Cloud: The sheet says “It’s set up once for everyone who uses this service, not by an organization.”

Self-hosted: An admin of the installation sees Set up monday.com sign-in instead, and sets it up once for everyone. Everyone else sees who to ask.

  1. Create an app in monday.com’s developer settings (monday.com’s guide).
  2. In GoRunner, copy the Redirect address to add in monday.com’s developer settings, and add it to the app.
  3. Paste the Client ID and Client secret, then press Save and sign in.

Set up a sign-in app

Can I use my own monday.com app?

Yes. In the sheet, open Use your own monday.com app and paste its Client ID and Client secret. Add the redirect address it shows to your app first. The connection then signs in through your app instead of the installation’s.

Connections says how to sign in again, rename or delete it. In a product that embeds GoRunner, Add connection can be missing: then your provider makes connections for you.

Start a workflow

Add a trigger and choose monday.com. The trigger uses the same connection as the steps.

On Board Event

Fires when the chosen event happens on the board. Publishing the workflow creates the board's webhook in monday.com; unpublishing removes it. Each delivery is checked against a secret only this webhook's address carries, and one without it is refused. monday retries a delivery it could not hand over for 30 minutes; a retry of the same event starts no second run. The connection's user must be able to open the board.

Board · Required

The board to watch. For a subitem event, the parent board (the one with the items).

Event · Required

What starts the workflow.

Options: Item created to Column created (21 options).

Default: Item created.

Column · Required

Group · Required

Do things in monday.com

Add a monday.com step, choose a Resource, then an Operation. Choose a row to see its fields.

Later steps read a step’s output by its name: see Use data from earlier steps.

Limits

  • A reply from monday.com can be up to 16 MB (a file download can have its own limit). A larger one fails the step; it is never cut short.
  • When monday.com says to slow down (429), the step waits as long as it asks, if the step’s time allows. Otherwise it fails and says when to try again.

Not in your list? See When an app isn’t here.

For developers

In the API, which calls apps pieces, monday.com is pieceId: "monday" with actionId: "monday", set by resource and an operation_… field, such as operation_board. Its trigger is mondaytrigger / monday_event. Get an app returns every field.

It can change something outside the run (writes_external). See How versions and side effects work.
