# Run Finished

Start a workflow when another workflow’s run finishes.

## Start a workflow

### On Run Finished

Triggers when a watched workflow's run finishes. The run context lands on the trigger’s data.

- **Watch Workflow · Optional**: Which workflow's runs to handle. Choose 'All workflows' to catch every finished run. Default: All workflows.
- **Run only when the watched run · Optional**: Which outcome of the watched workflow should start this workflow. Options: Succeeded, Failed, Finished (succeeded or failed). Default: Succeeded.

A later step can use its data, such as `{{trigger.run}}`, `{{trigger.workflow}}`. See [Use data from earlier steps](https://docs.gorunner.io/build/use-data-from-earlier-steps).

For a step-by-step guide, see [Start when another workflow fails or finishes](https://docs.gorunner.io/build/react-to-other-runs).

## For developers

In the API, which calls apps pieces, Run Finished is `pieceId: "runfinishedtrigger"`. Its trigger is `runfinishedtrigger` / `on_run_finished`. [Get an app](https://docs.gorunner.io/api/apps/get-app) returns every field.
