# Filter

Stop the run unless its conditions are met.

Add a **Filter** step. Choose the row to see all its fields.

## For developers

In the API, which calls apps pieces, Filter is `pieceId: "filter"` with `actionId: "filter"`. [Get an app](https://docs.gorunner.io/api/apps/get-app) returns every field.

It computes from its inputs only (`pure`). See [How versions and side effects work](https://docs.gorunner.io/apps#q-versions).

Continue only when the conditions pass; otherwise the run stops here and finishes. This is a gate, not a fork. To run different steps per case, use Branch.

- **Conditions · Required**: Continue only when these conditions are met. Conditions in a group must all hold; add an Or group for an alternative set.
